The History - CHITOS S.A.

1955

CHITOS SA was founded in the mid-50s as a beverage company located near the city of Ioannina. The founder of the company Ioannis Chitos, together with his two sons Konstantinos and Alkiviadis, started the production of “Hermes” soft drinks.

The Chitos family’s factory was at that time a small bottling production unit.

1980

Ioannis Chitos, founder of Chitos S.A, managed the Company for approximately 25 years.
In 1980, Konstantinos and Alkiviadis Chitos took over the management of the Company, launching a new range of soft drinks, under the brand “Hi-J”.

1988

A milestone year for CHITOS S.A. The business plan of Konstantinos and AlkiviadIs Chitos is successfully implemented. At a time when the per capita consumption of bottled water still remaines relatively low in Greece, CHITOS S.A. presents its own brand of bottled water in the Greek market, “Zagori” Natural Mineral Water, by utilizing the accumulated know-how and more than 30 years of experience in the bottling market.

2002

While bottled water penetration and consumption  is steadily increasing, CHITOS S.A. becomes a  vertically integrated production company, by opening the third plant producing plastic packaging materials (pet preforms and caps), in the Industrial Area of  Ioannina.

2012

CHITOS S.A. can now claim to be the most recognizable and competitive Greek water bottling company, with the wide packaging range, supporting directly or indirectly more than 1,200 persons.

2021

Nowadays, CHITOS S.A. is a pioneering, well-established Greek industrial company with a leading presence in the domestic bottled water market and a strong worldwide exporting activity, contributing substantially to the national economy.

Premises

CHITOS SA has premises all over Greece.

Zagorochoria Premises

The 2 privately owned water sources of ZAGORI Natural Mineral Water with the two bottling plants are located at an altitude of 485 meters, at the foothills of the Zagorochoria mountain range.

Ioannina Industrial Area Premises

To support the two bottling plants, CHITOS S.A. has a third industrial unit in the Industrial Area of Ioannina, with automated production of plastic pet packaging materials - preforms and caps.

Athens Premises

The company has branches in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras, and recently acquired the ZIRIA natural mineral water bottling plant in Peloponnese.
